9AM Market Mood Meter: is the market scared or greedy?
One number from 0 to 100 that sums up how the Indian market feels right now, built from six signals in NIFTY 50’s price, volatility and valuation. Below 30 is extreme fear, above 70 is extreme greed.
How the mood has changed
The six signals behind today’s reading
Each signal is scored from 0 to 100 by comparing today with the last three years: 0 means the most fearful reading of that period, 100 the most greedy. The Mood Meter is the simple average of all six.

How to read the Mood Meter
Panic selling. Prices are often beaten down, which has historically been a better time to look for opportunities.
Investors are nervous. Watch which way the meter is heading.
Confidence is building. Trends are usually healthy here.
Euphoria. A good time to stay disciplined, avoid chasing and keep stop-losses in place.
The Mood Meter is a contrarian tool, in the spirit of Warren Buffett’s line about being fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful. It tells you how the crowd feels, not where the market will go. Use it alongside your own analysis and risk plan, never on its own.
