Bubble Phase Meter: which stage is each stock in?
Every Nifty 500 stock, sorted into the four stages of a market bubble — Stealth, Awareness, Mania and Blow-off — using fixed price rules. Updated every trading evening after NSE closes.
Bubble size = number of stocks in that stage. Tap a bubble to filter the list.
Sector heat: which themes are overheating?
Each bar shows how a sector’s stocks are spread across the four phases. Sectors with the most stocks in Mania are at the top. Tap a sector to see its stocks.
How the Bubble Phase Meter decides
No opinions, no tips — just the same four rules applied to every stock, every evening. A stock that fits none of them goes into a fifth group, Out of cycle, so every Nifty 500 stock appears somewhere. To stop stocks flipping back and forth on a boundary, a new phase only counts once it holds for 2 trading days in a row. “Days in phase” counts trading days since that change; a “+” means it has been there at least that long.
| Phase | What the price is doing | Rule used |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth | Quiet, sideways base. Few people are watching. | Within 8% of a flat 200-day average, moving in a range of 30% or less for 3 months |
| Awareness | A steady uptrend that bigger investors are buying. | Above a rising 200-day average, but less than 35% above it |
| Mania | Fast, steep rise. Everyone is talking about it. | 35% or more above the 200-day average and within 15% of the 52-week high |
| Blow-off | The crowd is rushing out after a big run. | Was 35%+ above the 200-day average in the last 6 months, now 25%+ below its 52-week high and under the 50-day average |
| Out of cycle | Falling slowly or drifting. Not in a bubble stage right now. | Fits none of the above: split into slow downtrend (below a falling 200-day average), below average, or no clear trend |
Frequently asked questions
What is the Bubble Phase Meter?
It is a free tool from 9AM Traders Academy that places each Nifty 500 stock in one of four bubble stages — Stealth, Awareness, Mania or Blow-off — based on how far its price has moved from its long-term average and its 52-week high.
Does “Mania” mean I should sell, or “Stealth” mean I should buy?
No. The meter only describes the price pattern. Stocks can stay in Mania for months, and many Stealth stocks never take off. Use it to know where a stock stands, then do your own study.
What does “Out of cycle” mean?
These stocks are not in any bubble stage right now. Most are in a slow downtrend below a falling 200-day average; others are drifting without a clear trend. Many stocks spend long periods here before a new cycle starts.
When is the data updated?
Every trading day at about 7 PM IST, after NSE publishes its official end-of-day prices (bhavcopy). The date of the data is shown at the top of the page.
What is the 200-day average?
It is the average closing price of roughly the last 200 trading days (about 10 months). It shows the long-term trend. A price far above it means the stock has run up fast; a price close to it means the stock is calm.
Where does the bubble-stage idea come from?
The four stages come from the well-known “stages in a bubble” model by Dr. Jean-Paul Rodrigue of Hofstra University. 9AM Traders turned it into fixed rules so it can be checked on real stocks every day.
